Remembering D-Day at Bishop Auckland care homeResidents, friends, family and members of the team at HC-One’s Eden House care home in Bishop Auckland, County Durham came together to commemorate D-Day.

On Tuesday 6th June 1944, the Normandy landings, also referred to as D-Day took place and became the largest seaborne invasion in history. The events of D-Day instigated the liberation of European countries from Nazi control and contributed to the allied victory of World War II.

Eden House was decorated with items and banners from the era and the team dressed in 1940’s and 1950’s fashion. Food and beverages were served as war time music was played and everyone shared their family stories or memories from the war.

Eden House Home Manager, Emma Wade, said: “It was important to everyone at Eden House that we remember those that fought for our country.”
