Residents at HC-One’s Millcroft Care Home, in Redditch, were treated to an unforgettable experience on Friday, March 7, as they welcomed the "Animal Man", Stefan, and his fascinating collection of exotic creatures.
For over an hour, the residents had the opportunity to meet and interact with a variety of unusual animals, including ‘Humbug’ the skunk, an owl, a gecko, and even a scorpion. The visit was inspired by the residents’ many stories about their beloved pets, which sparked the idea of introducing them to a selection of unique and extraordinary animals.
While there was some initial nervousness, the residents quickly warmed up to the experience. Humbug, the friendly skunk, quickly became the favourite animal of the day, with many residents eagerly holding and petting him, along with the owl.
The skunk's gentle nature, having been raised with cats, made him particularly endearing to the group. The visit was a great success, filled with lots of smiles and laughter.
The residents thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on experience, and the care home has already planned to invite the "Animal Man" and his animals back for another visit.
Lyndsay Sard, HC-One’s Millcroft Care Home Manager, stated:
“We’re so glad the residents had such a positive and fun experience with these exotic animals. It was a wonderful opportunity for our residents to engage in something new.
“We know they miss their own pets, so this was just delightful. The “Animal Man” will be visiting us again soon at Millcroft.”
