Redcar care home takes part in Dementia Action WeekResidents and members of the team at HC-One’s St Peter’s Court care home in Redcar joined together to spread the word about Dementia Action Week. 

The care team marked the annual week by hosting a dress down Friday, a Blue Light Breakfast and an afternoon for Resident to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society. Everyone wore blue and have donated funds, Residents also had special blue cakes with their afternoon tea.

Dementia is a progressive brain condition that affects 850,000 people in the UK, causing symptoms including memory loss, thinking speed, language, judgement and difficulties in carrying out daily activities. 

St Peter’s Court Home Manager, Joleen Rayner, commented: “We’ve had a great week at St Peter’s Court whilst allowing the opportunity to raise awareness of dementia. 

“All of the care team are passionate about caring for our Residents who are living with dementia.”

Dementia Action Week is Alzheimer’s Society’s annual event this year from 20-26th May, with the aim of encouraging people, workplaces, schools and communities to take action and improve the lives of people living with dementia.
