Redcar care home Resident surprised by newlywedsBetty Johnson, a Resident at HC-One’s Roseberry Court care home in Redcar had her wish come true on Sunday 19th May with a surprise visit from her granddaughter, Emma.

Since the day that Emma was born, Betty has dreamed of wearing a hat at her wedding, her wish was granted when Betty was visited by newlyweds, Emma and Laurie. The team at Roseberry Court had persuaded Betty to wear hat, without knowing that Emma and Laurie were about to walk in to the room as the wedding march played in their wedding dress and suit.

Betty was overjoyed and filled with tears of happiness as her granddaughter and new grandson-in-law walked into the room, she couldn’t believe she was lucky enough to see what she had dreamed of for so long come true.

Joined by the rest of their family, Betty and the happy couple joined Sunday tea and talked in detail about the big day. Emma kindly donated some of her paper flowers from the wedding to Roseberry Court, these flowers are now proudly displayed in the home’s sensory garden.

Cam and Lindsey Johnson said: “We would like to thank you all for the lovely Sunday tea and the warm wishes, when our daughter Emma and her new husband Laurie came to see Betty her grandmother.

“It was a really nice afternoon and lovely to see Betty enjoying herself and making happy memories for us.”
