Redcar care home remembers fallen heroes on Remembrance DayResidents and team members at HC-One’s St Peter’s Court care home in Redcar paid their respects to fallen heroes on Remembrance Day on Monday 11th November.

Remembrance Day is observed by members of the Commonwealth of Nations to remember members of the military and armed forces who have died in the line of duty.

In preparation for their remembrance event, Residents created handmade poppies which were displayed throughout the home, while team members wore traditional armed forces uniforms. Ex-service men and women visited the home to spend some time with Residents and share their experiences.

A local singer performed war time songs and everyone united in a two-minute silence, reflecting on the past, remembering loved ones and thinking of those who are still serving in the armed forces.

St Peter’s Court home manager, Joleen Rayner said: “We’d like to extend our thanks to everyone who joined us in remembering the selfless sacrifice of our fallen heroes.

“Some of our Residents have lost loved ones during different conflicts so it was a cathartic experience for them to remember and pay their respects.”
