Redcar care home host Harvest Festival celebrationsA Harvest Festival held at HC-One’s Roseberry Court Care Home in Redcar helped Residents to meet new people, make new friends and have meaningful moments in the company of others.

The event was also in support of Silver Sunday, which helps combat loneliness within the community and helps to increase happiness and wellbeing.

Roseberry Court welcomed members of the local community to mark the start of the autumn season on Friday, October 5 and hosted a range of harvest themed activities including a Harvest Festival service with friends and family with hymns and a telling of the harvest story.

After lunch children from the local Lakes Primary School brought harvest themed arts and crafts to complete with the Resident’s and biscuits to decorate.

Residents and staff donated food items and distributed the harvest collection to the local food bank.

Alison Corner, Home Manager at HC-One’s Roseberry Court Care Home commented:

“Everyone had a great day, it brought back some lovely memories for some of our Residents and we loved donating our food collection to a good cause.”

Silver Sunday celebrates older people and helps to combat loneliness, while Harvest Festival celebrates food that’s grown and produced on England’s home soil.

Residents from all floors loved spending the afternoon with the primary school children, Edwin commented:

“I love all the arts and crafts with the children.”

Irene commented:

“I remember singing those hymns at our schools Harvest Festival.”
