Residents at HC-One’s
Bridgewater Park, residential, nursing and dementia care home, in Scunthorpe, have been having a lot of fun recently.
The start of the fantastic array of activities, the Queens Jubilee called for a huge celebration. The Residents love the Royal Family, one Resident commented, “I cannot believe how long the Queen has been on the throne. The Queen looked very well.”
On the 3rd of June, the Residents all got together in the Harmony Unit and had a lovely time celebrating the Queens Platinum Jubilee. The lounge was beautifully decorated with lots of Union Jack bunting and photographs of the Queen.
On the morning of the party, the Residents took part in arts and crafts. They made crowns and hats for everyone to wear for the party. The Residents love getting together, and this was a great opportunity for it.
There was a great singer who performed at the party. The singers sang lots of old classics which the Residents loved.
Following the entertainment there was a magnificent buffet tea make for everyone to enjoy. The buffet was lovely, and everyone tucked in to enjoy the royal treats. One Resident, commented, “What a lovely afternoon, the buffet was lovely.”
As well as celebrating the Queens Jubilee, some of the Residents have been participating in a gardening club.
Residents, Joyce, Val, John, Pat, Audrey, Pat and Betty are all members of the gardening club as they are keen gardeners.
The Residents put all their green fingers together and planted some seeds together. They planted Busy Lizzy and Sunflowers. They filled the pots with soil, and seeds, then gave them a good water.
It was lovely to see the Residents chatting about flowers and produce they used to plant in their own gardens. They were chatting while enjoying a lovely cup of tea and tucking into some biscuits.
Melanie Walton, Care Home Manager, commented, “So nice to see the Residents starting to grow their own plants, it will be lovely when they start to flower.”
