Ramsey care home worker takes part in London MarathonSue Ward, a nurse at HC-One’s The Red House care home in Ramsey completed the 2018 London Marathon on Sunday 22nd April.

Sue, who has worked at The Red House since 2015 is an avid runner who regularly runs with a local club and has completed several marathons.

This was her first time running in the London Marathon and completed it in just over five hours, to show their support Residents and colleagues at The Red House watched the marathon on the television hoping to catch a glimpse of Sue.

Amazingly Sue was able to work her night shift the next day, her colleagues commented that she looked ‘as fresh as daisy’ although Sue said that appearances can be deceiving.

During her shift on the Monday following the marathon Sue shared stories of her experience with Residents and the team, she was also presented with a surprise cake from her colleagues.

Sue Ward, Nurse at The Red House said:

“It was the hardest race I have done so far with the hot weather, but it was worth it. I really appreciate all of the support I received from my colleagues and the Residents at The Red House was amazing.”

The Red House, Home Manager Keith Ware said:

“From myself and the rest of the team at The Red House, I would like to congratulate Sue on her amazing achievement of completing the London Marathon. We are all proud of her and hope she enjoyed the lovely cake the team made for her.”
