RAF Waddington’s act of kindness transforms garden at Lincoln care homeA fantastic act of kindness from Royal Air Force (RAF) Waddington has seen a transformational garden project take place at HC-One’s Lincoln-based Altham Court care home in time for summer.

Colleagues at Altham Court held a gardening meeting with Residents and their Relatives after the RAF approached the home to see if there were any opportunities to volunteer there.

At the meeting, Residents expressed their wishes to have the home’s courtyard renovated, to make it more inviting and special for when their loved ones come to visit.

The RAF team were more than happy to take on the challenge and, with the helping hand of some green-fingered Residents and Wellbeing Coordinator Alex Mellor, the garden has become a much more colourful place in time for summer.

The team at Altham Court were keen to show their appreciation to the RAF, who have agreed to visit the home fortnightly until the garden is complete, by providing them with bacon rolls and other snacks throughout the day.

Maureen Wilkinson, a Resident at Altham Court, said: “I really enjoyed helping out with the garden transformation. It was a lovely, pleasant morning and I cannot wait to get back out there to help.”

Anna Livsey, Home Manager, said: “The whole team at Altham Court are delighted that the RAF has volunteered their time to assist with our garden project, which will really enhance the wellbeing of our Residents.

“There has been a lovely buzz around the home each time the RAF volunteers have arrived. It really has been wonderful to have the community come together for such a great act of kindness at Altham Court.”
