Quick thinking care team save visitors life Mrs Lillian Spence has always visited her husband, Mr Mark Spence, daily at HC-One’s Lothian House in Spennymoor, but on her last visit, the team immediately noticed that she appeared unsteady and looked very unwell.

On further examination, it became apparent that Mrs Spence was in fact suffering from a stroke and thanks to the caring team who acted calmly, quickly and efficiently, paramedics were at the home and treating her within 16 minutes.

Due to the efficient actions that were taken, she has now returned home and is living independently with some home care support.

The next time Lillian came to visit her husband, her smile lit up the room as soon as she walked through the front doors.

Jackie Spence, Mark and Lillian’s daughter, commented:

“Absolutely brilliant, I couldn’t recommend the home enough. The staff are always professional and very friendly and approachable.

My mam though, who I thought a few weeks back wouldn’t be here, has recovered marvellously down to the care and attention she received from the home.”

Jill Carr, Lothian House’s Home Manager commented:

“I am so proud of the team and the actions that they took that day.

It was lovely to see Mrs Spence return to visit her husband, her smile said it all.”
