Pumpkin painting at The Willows care homeThis month at The Willows in Hinckley, which offers residential and residential dementia care, Residents have been painting pumpkins in anticipation for Halloween.

This year at The Willows, they decided to decorate their pumpkins a little bit differently. As many of the Residents found it quite difficult to carve out and then shape a face into the pumpkins, they were all painted white to start with. Then once they were dried out, they used stencils of Halloween pictures to paint onto the front of them.

It was quite a popular activity among the Residents as everybody could join in and do it. Everybody was really pleased with how their pumpkins turned out and enjoyed showing them off to others, the pumpkins were placed around the home as part of their Halloween decorations. Molly, a Resident who took part in the activity said, “This was a great activity, I’ve never decorated pumpkins this way and they really look good”.

Anna, the Home Manager commented, “The pumpkins look fantastic! I am very glad that everybody could get involved and try something different”.
