Residents at
Pennwood Lodge care home in Kingswood, Wotton-under-Edge got involved in the preparation for the upcoming festivities by helping to make Christmas cakes.
Wellbeing Coordinator Julie and Chef Ali, at the 45-bed residential, nursing and dementia care home, took the ingredients around to the different communities within the home and Residents got involved by weighing out the ingredients and stirring the mixture.
As the activity was happening, this sparked many memories from Residents who took a trip down memory lane and talked about who made their own cakes in their families, and what was put into the mixture it.
Chris, Margaret, Barbara, Linda, Shelia, Pauline and Betty, who all live at the home, thoroughly enjoyed participating in the activity and all enjoyed the smells of the spices and the brandy.
Margaret said, “It was nice to be involved in making a Christmas cake and smelling the spices.”
Ali commented on how nice it was to come out of the kitchen and work with the Residents
