Postcards of Kindness is a success at Carlton care homeA new HC-One wellbeing initiative has gone down a treat with Residents at Willow Brook care home in Carlton, as they have participated in the Postcards of Kindness scheme.

The international scheme involves people from across the world sending postcards to others, with some even sending detailed letters and gifts.

Many HC-One homes have become involved in the scheme to help enhance communication and combat isolation amongst older people.

Residents have loved reading all about people’s home towns, holidays and cultures, as well as the initiative being a great conversation starter for those living in the home.

Colleagues at Willow Brook have put all the postcards into an album for Residents to read whenever they wish, with Residents already creating their own postcards to send back.

Leanne Haywood, Wellbeing Coordinator at Willow Brook, said: “It’s been brilliant to see Residents getting so excited about the postcards, they love seeing where they have all come from and have enjoyed designing cards to send back in our craft sessions.”
