Postcards brighten up Residents’ day at Ilkeston care homeSmiles were all around at Ladywood care home in Ilkeston as Residents received handmade postcards from students at St John Houghton School.

Students from the school created the colourful postcards by hand and even personally delivered them to Residents living at Ladywood.

The initiative aims to enhance wellbeing of Residents by showing the older community that they are thought about and aims to also reduce loneliness.

Residents thanked the students for the lovely gesture, before each Resident chose a postcard of their choice to keep. One person living at Ladywood even received a special card from his grandson, which put a great smile on his face when he read the thoughtful messages.

Donna Lukoschus, Home Manager at Ladywood, said: “Thank you so much to the students from St John Houghton School, the postcards have certainly made a big impression on our Residents and are such a lovely way of connecting the younger and older generations.”
