Polegate care home celebrates VE dayResidents and Colleagues of The Polegate celebrated VE day recently. VE day, or Victory in Europe day, is a day which celebrates the Allies of World War II accepting Nazi Germany's unconditional surrender of its armed forces on the 8 May 1945.

Many Residents within the home have memories from this day in 1945, and shared stories with each other as they waved Union Jack flags and made medals out of clay.

Emma Rich-Spice, Home Manager, commented: “VE day is such an important part of many of our Residents’ history, and we feel we should remember such a poignant occasion. Everyone enjoyed the activities on offer and it was lovely to see everyone get involved.”

Activities concluded with a delicious lunch of homemade roast pork and chickpea korma, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all, alongside various refreshments that were available.

What a wonderful way to celebrate such a memorable occasion.
