Polegate care home celebrates Care Home Open DayHC-One’s The Polegate Care Home recently opened its doors to the community to take part in creative celebrations as part of the seventh annual Care Home Open Day.

This year’s theme was ‘Celebrating Art in Care,’ with HC-One launching a national Art Competition to encourage, Residents, their loved ones, Colleagues and neighbours to unleash their creativity and design their own masterpiece. Participants could create anything from paintings, drawings, knitting, poetry, calligraphy and pottery – the choices were endless and allowed all talents to be showed-off.
Residents’ art work was proudly displayed on the walls of the home for all to see, as visitors entered the home and were welcomed by an Elvis entertainer who serenaded everyone with reminiscant melodies of the ‘King of Rock and Roll’. Residents and visitors enjoyed a sing along as they put on their dancing shoes and partied the afternoon away to their favourite songs.

A raffle was also held within the home, and everyone was given the opportunity to get involved and purchase tickets. The funds raised from the raffle will go towards the Residents’ comfort fund.

Sharon Chantler, Home Administrator, commented: “It’s wonderful to see the Residents smiling and enjoying themselves as they sang along to the music. It’s been a lovely day.”
