Penrith Care Home hosts a coffee morning for Dementia Awareness WeekHC-One’s Cold Springs Park Care Home in Penrith, Cumbria invited Residents and their families to a coffee morning for Dementia Awareness Week.

The coffee morning was arranged to engage Residents and their relatives in talks regarding Dementia and the effects it can have on the person but also their family members.

Everyone gathered in the lounge for teas, coffees and cake where The Alzheimer’s Society had set up a table for their talks and handed out leaflets with useful information on.

The local CHESS team, part of the NHS team in Cumbria, also attended and gave insight into their role within mental health, and how they support care homes and the community in Cumbria.

The event was really successful in pulling the community together and everyone really engaged with the talks, with relatives asking a lot of questions. They really enjoyed being able to meet and speak to others in similar situations.

The Residents also found it really interesting and enjoyed the informal atmosphere.
