Pencoed care home Residents write back to local pen palsResidents at HC-One’s Glanffrwd care home in Pencoed recently wrote back to their newly made pen pals at the local Pencoed Primary School.

During lockdown, Residents and Colleagues at Glanffrwd were delighted when Julie Jenkins from Pencoed Primary School got in touch to see if the home wanted to start up a pen pal scheme between Residents and Pencoed Primary School’s Year 5 and 6 pupils

Glanffrwd Residents recently received their first batch of letters from the pupils and they couldn’t be more excited. The letters will certainly boost the moral of the Residents after being in lockdown.

Glanffrwd Resident, Ralph Underhill said: “What a beautiful to do, this is beautiful.”

Residents then got to replying the messaging by writing some lovely thank you’s and words of encouragement wishing all the pupils well.

Glanffrwd Home Manager Joan Thomas said: “This will certainly boost the moral of the Residents. Thank you to Pencoed Year 5 and 6 pupils for being so kind.”
