For Dementia Action Week at
Park House care home in Guisborough, a Reminiscence Café was held for those Residents living with dementia.
The Residents absolutely loved the event and embraced it fully, as Residents from all communities throughout the home came together for the event.
Colleagues got dressed up from different decades from the roaring 20’s, to the 40’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. The kitchen team prepared a lovely buffet and wonderful selection of cakes along with a lovely selection of drinks.
There were many reminiscence items which included artefacts from World War 2, two beautiful dresses from the old TV programme The Good Old Days, box brownie cameras and a wonderful 60-year-old Basil Brush, made by a previous Resident for her children when they were small.
There was a second event held at the residential and residential dementia care home held close to Dementia Action Week with singer and entertainer Chris Gilly, who brought his rock and roll show, to the Residents.
With lots of music from the likes of Bill Haley and the Comments and Elvis, the Residents were singing along and having a great time.
It was a lovely few days had by everyone, and the Care Home Manager, said, “It was wonderful to see many interactions between Colleagues, Residents and family members.”
