Oo La La. Park House goes all out for French Resident’s wishClaudette Evans, a memory care Resident in the Grace unit at HC-One’s Park House Care Home in Guisborough wished to reminisce about her homeland, France, and have some knowledge of the country as it is today. She also wished to converse in her native tongue.

The care team all put their heads together to ensure Claudette’s wish come true and invited her loving family to the event.

The Grace lounge was decorated with French flags and bunting and photos of the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triumph and Cathedral Notre Dame. French themed refreshments were supplied, including French red and white wine, with red being Claudette’s favourite.

Claudette was over the moon when special guest and retired French teacher, Mrs Jean Wedgewood turned up and started speaking fluent French to her, even singing some French folk songs together.

Jean had been living in France for the last 2 years and has just recently returned to England, so she brought along photo albums, which included images of places in France that Claudette recognised immediately.

Park House’s Home Manager, Alishia Calvert commented:

“We were so happy to be able to give Claudette this special afternoon.

It was really special to see her chatting away with Mrs Jean Wedgewood.”
