October fun at Eckington care homeResidents at April Park care home in Eckington, Derbyshire have been getting up to lots of activities in the month of October.

On the 14th of October at the 38-bed residential care home, Residents and Colleagues enjoyed a Bollywood themed party.

To prepare for the party Residents made their own tablecloths, with lots of different colours and patterns.
It was a great experience from Residents who had never tried Indian cuisine as they were able to try lots of new food.

There was lots of music, dancing and some delicious food made by the fantastic kitchen Colleagues.
One Resident, commented, “I loved trying all the food, there were lots of different dishes which I hadn’t tried before.”

Throughout October both Colleagues and Residents have been collecting food for the local foodbank.
The Residents have worked together to make bags of food for local people in the community to say thank you for all of their donations they made during lockdown.

Making the bags was a highlight for the Residents as they were keen to give back to the local community.
Lisa Dootson, Care Home Manager, remarked, “We are always looking for ways to give back to the local community and donating to the local food bank is one of the things we are doing here at April Park.”
