Once a month, Alexander Court Care Home in Sheffield hold an after school club called the Oakes and Acorns.
Mums from the local Lydgate school attend with their children aged from 1 year to 6 years old.
Each month the session begins with a snack time and welcome, followed by activities. This month’s activities was puzzles and then a “Dough Disco”, where the children mould dough to music.
To finish the Residents and children sang some well-known nursery rhymes together.
The Residents love spending time with the children and look forward to the sessions.
Home Manager, Amanda Fields, commented:
“The Residents really enjoy when the children come to visit and look forward to the next session. It’s a great way for us to work with various groups and bring communities together.”
