Nutrition and Hydration Week at Stockport care homeThis week is Nutrition and Hydration Week at Appleton Manor general nursing and residential memory care home, in Bredbury.

To promote the week, Wellbeing Coordinator Sarah incorporated foods and fluids to the activity planner this week, including making a fruit salad, using all types of fruit, as well as strawberry, banana and chocolate milkshakes with ice-ream. There was also a variety of different cheese flavours to get the taste buds going, including Cheshire, caramelised onion, cheese & chive, Wensleydale & cranberry, grated mild white & orange cheese, soft garlic & herb, chive & onion cheese spread and Stilton, (plus a selection of assorted crackers).

Sarah also held a smoothie tasting session, with Pina Colada, banana & strawberry, berries, summer fruits and fruits of the forest.

Residents really enjoy the sessions and there was certainly plenty to choose from!

Sarah commented, “These sorts of activities promote diet and fluid intake which is a very important part to keep our Residents hydrated and promote diet intake.”

“I had Lots of feedback from the Residents on how lovely the food and drinks were.”
