Nottingham Care Home Gears Up for the Big Garden Birdwatch 2025Coppice Lodge care home in Nottingham is excited to announce that it will be participating in the Big Garden Birdwatch from January 24th to 26th, 2025, joining thousands of people across the UK in counting and observing local birdlife.

As part of the event, residents at Coppice Lodge have already started spotting a variety of birds around the home, including Blue Tits, Robins, Dunnocks, and even a Woodpigeon.

The home is well equipped with several bird feeders that are regularly visited not only by birds but also by squirrels, much to the delight of the residents.

Among the participants are Doreen, 102 years old, Brenda, 91, and Rhona, 83, who all all keen to get involved and share in the joy of birdwatching.

For Brenda, the event holds special significance. Reflecting on her childhood in Chester, she shared how the activity brought back fond memories of walking for hours around a nearby estate with friends, watching the birds and enjoying nature.

“We are thrilled to be participating in this year's Big Garden Birdwatch,” said Ken Buxton, Home Manager at Coppice Lodge. “Not only does it promote physical activity and mental stimulation, but it also provides a new platform for our residents to share their personal stories and memories, creating a sense of connection with one another and the world around us.”
