HC-One’s Acorn Hollow Care Home, in Lostock Gralam, Northwich, will welcome “vulnerable” members of the community to socialise with residents, colleagues and visitors to prevent them from spending Christmas alone.
Acorn Hollow will hold their own Christmas dinner event on Wednesday, December 18. Celebrating Christmas is more than just the day itself, there are many festive activities that take place in the days, or even weeks, before Christmas Day arrives.
Entertainment is a regular feature across care homes, from singers and musicians to animal therapy – there are many different things for residents to enjoy. Over Christmas, there is a festive spin on planned entertainment.
However, there are a lot of people in the community who will spend Christmas alone, without seeing anyone over the festive period. Acorn Hollow want to provide a chance for members of the community to enjoy a Christmas meal and socialise with other members of the community and the residents at the home.
Acorn Hollow will provide an afternoon of festivities along with a three-course meal. Mulled wine will be on offer along with mince pies as well as a Christmas quiz and live entertainment.
Rachel Astles, Home Manager at HC-One’s Acorn Hollow, commented:
“Over the festive period there are a lot of residents in the community who might not see a single person. It gives them a chance to enjoy a Christmas meal and socialise with other members of the community and the residents within the home.
“A lot of vulnerable people in the community who might not see anyone for long periods of time and be spending Christmas alone.”
