Northview Lodge Resident reaches new heights as wish comes trueStaff at Northview Lodge care home in Castletown have made a wish come true for Resident Robert White with a skydiving experience.

Robert White, a self-proclaimed adrenaline junkie, told staff that, despite living with Cerebral Palsy, he wanted to complete a parachute jump, as part of Northview Lodge’s Wish Masters initiative.

Although staff were unfortunately unable to arrange a parachute jump for Robert, Nursing Assistant Andy and Nurse Kayleigh decided to arrange the next best thing – an indoor skydive.

Andy took Robert to iFly, an indoor skydiving centre in Manchester, where he had a thrilling time, especially when the instructors allowed him to float to the top of the machine at 30 feet in the air.

Robert’s skydive is his latest achievement in a series of daring adventures, which also include going on a one hundred foot tree swing, showing that heights are no setback for him.

Robert said: “I absolutely loved the skydive, it was brilliant and I went right up to the top. I was a little bit frightened at first but would love to do it again.”

Patrick Morley, Home Manager at Northview Lodge, said: “At HC-One, we make every effort to help Residents achieve their goals, and the Wish Masters initiative is a fantastic way to do this. Robert was absolutely delighted when we revealed his surprise skydive to him, and he couldn’t stop smiling when he returned to the home afterwards. Everyone can’t wait to see what his next adventure will be.”
