Northfleet care home gets creative for Care Home Open DayAs part of the seventh annual Care Home Open Day, HC-One’s Wombwell Hall Care Home opened its doors to the community to take part in creative celebrations.

Care Home Open Day is a national event that gives local people the opportunity to learn more about the care services at the heart of their community. It focusses on bringing those who live locally into care homes to break down misconceptions, showcase what life is really like in a care home, and to highlight the skills and dedication of local people working as carers. The aspiration of everyone having a better understanding of how kind care is delivered.

The home proudly welcomed the Mayor of Gravesham, as well as students from local Northfleet School for Girls as they celebrated Art in Care, this year’s theme of the National Open Day.

Residents, Relatives and visitors from the local community enjoyed an afternoon in the sun as they listened to the musical talents of the Storm King and indulged in a freshly prepared afternoon tea consisting of various treats and refreshments.

The winners of the art competition were announced as the Mayor presented certificates to each one. He remarked that he was overwhelmed by the artwork and that the Residents’ had made a tremendous effort.

Cathrine Veerigadu, Home Manager, commented: “Residents, Relatives and visitors have had a wonderful afternoon, and it was lovely to see the Residents interacting with the local community within the home.”
