At
Harnham Croft residential and nursing care home, in Harnham, it has been a very busy October for Residents.
On Friday 8th October, some Residents at the home had a trip out in the minibus. Pat is a Resident at Harnham Croft and used to be a teacher and used to drive a similar minibus that the home use. Pat arranged a route for Colleague Tim to take Residents around where Pat used to live and work (in Winterbourne).
Residents enjoyed an ice-cream in some decent October weather as Pat enjoyed navigating Tim whilst he was driving. She showed fellow Residents and Colleagues Gladys, Kelly and Jenna) lots of different places including where she was born.
Gladys enjoyed reminiscing of when she used to drive through with her husband, “There never used to be this many vehicles on the road when I was in the car with my husband Ken.”
Jim Bowie, Care Home Manager, said, “It was lovely to see the difference it made to Pat to go back to where she used to live and see the church she got married in. Pat said it all still looks the same.”
On Thursday 21st October, Residents had fun using the chocolate fountain donated to the home by Senior Carer, Kelly. The Residents including Linda, Eileen and Pat, enjoyed dipping their favourite fruit into the chocolate.
Pat said she was amazing that they managed to get a chocolate fountain as she said a couple of days ago that she would love to have one.
Everyone involved dipped marshmallows, strawberries and banana under the flowing chocolate.
Eileen commented, “The fruit and chocolate are very tasty! It is fascinating watching the chocolate go from the bottom and flow out the top.”
Previously, a lady in the local community used to arrange flowers that had been donated to her from a local charity, she would arrange the flowers and then donate them to Harnham Croft. She has sadly passed away so the charity that donated the flowers have now chosen to donate them to Harnham Croft directly.
Paula, who is a Resident at the home, now enjoys arranging the flowers and putting them up around the home. She said, “It’s lovely that the flowers still get donated to the home, even though the lady has now sadly passed away.”
Jim added, “Our Residents enjoy having fresh flowers around the home and in the communal areas. The love the smell of fresh flowers.”
