Newcastle care home Residents write beautiful poem for NAPA competitionResidents at HC-One’s Orchard Mews care home in Newcastle have written a beautiful poem that they wish to submit as an entry for the National Activities Providers Associations poem competition.

Residents Margaret Locke and Jean Denholm were proud of the poem they created and look forward to finding out if they've won.

Things that get you through the day,
Thoughts and prayers and plenty of play,
A smile, a laugh shared with a friend,
And hope to god it’ll never end.

It helps you see the future right,
To dream of things beautiful and bright,
But never forget the ones you love,
The ones with us now and the ones above.

It’s sometimes hobbies that get you through,
Like crochet or knitting a scarf or two,
Fill your life with art and craft,
Feel free on occasion to get a bit daft.

Don’t ever regret the life you’ve had,
The times you’ve spent with Mum and Dad,
Or the love you’ve given throughout,
And never let this come into doubt.

Just do your best and you’ll be fine.

A poem by Margaret Locke and Jean Denholm.

Orchard Mews care home wellbeing coordinator, David Bell said: “Both ladies did a fantastic job, fingers crossed they can win.”
