Colleagues at HC-One’s Fleming Court care home in Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne have been writing and printing their very own newspapers for Residents.
Due to coronavirus restrictions and concerns there is unfortunately a lack of newspapers and magazines at the care home and Residents are missing reading their daily news fix. Now Colleagues have taken it upon themselves to make their own newspaper – The Teapot Times.
Maureen Cragie, a Resident at the home, said: “It’s lovely to have some outside news back on paper instead of the TV.”
The Teapot Times will be delivered to all Residents three times a week and features 2-4 top news national or international news stories and 1-2 memory lane stories for the Residents to reminisce over.
Residents at Fleming Court have loved having their daily news back in bitesize chunks and The Teapot Times has been a real conversation starter throughout the home.
Fleming Court Wellbeing Coordinator, Kate Patton, commented: “After so long in lockdown the Residents were struggling. The Teapot Times is a way to connect them to the outside world once again.”
