Residents at HC-One’s Melbury Court Care Home in Durham are taking part in the recruitment process of new staff and love their new role.
This week, two members of the recruitment team were at Melbury Court interviewing potential staff. Home Manager, Nicola Coulson, invited two of the Residents, Margaret Barker and Pam Hampton, to join them.
They were both delighted to take part in this opportunity and put the candidates through their paces, and commented:
“This is a brilliant idea as it means that we can help choose who will be looking after us.”
In the future, Nicola would like to involve family members in this process as well.
Nicola Coulson, Home Manager at Melbury Court, commented:
“This is something that I have carried out in my other homes and has always been a success; it’s something that I intend to do at all interview in the future.”
