Neath Care Home visited by Year 11 students from Dwr-Y-Felin Comprehensive SchoolHC-One Cwrt Clwydi Gwyn Care Home in Skewen were delighted to welcome Year 11 pupils of Dwr-Y-Felin School prior to Christmas who spent time with the Home’s Residents.

The student are working towards a Princes Trust qualification in Personal Development and Employability Skills (Level 2). The experience was for the Community Project module. The aim of this unit is for the learner to plan, complete and review a project in the wider community. As part of the planning the learners should have some involvement in selecting the project undertaken, completing the project and then reviewing the success of it.

Lianne Hargreaves the Home Manager commented:
“During the day they helped our residents put up their Christmas tree, engaged with residents over tea and encouraged residents to take part in our weekly Zumba session. It was lovely to hear their feedback about how the visit had changed their perception of care homes and how much they had enjoyed interacting with our elderly Residents”

HC-One Regional Managing Director Liz Whyte commented:
“In all of our HC One Homes we are keen for Residents to interact with their local community and I am particular pleased to hear about the students from a local school choosing their Princess Trust project to be engaging with elderly people in residential care. I would like to thank everyone involved as this is indicative of how HC-One operates engaging with the local community”.
