NCS volunteers carry out a garden makeover for Penrith care homeHC-One’s Cold Springs Park Care Home in Penrith welcomed a group of young people from Cumbria who were on their four-week National Citizen Service adventure.

As part of the NCS programme, young people complete a volunteering project and Cold Springs Park were delighted to host them, where they kindly carried out a garden makeover for the Residents to enjoy.

The eleven NCS volunteers, Alexa Fethesstonhaugh, Jasmine Mathier, Alicia Grainger, Polina Krivtsova, Thomas Lancaster, Ryan Mole, Dan Moody, Tyler Bamber, Ben Thompson, Jay Henderson and Daniel Harvey are all from Carlisle, Appleby and Penrith and visited along with two team leaders, Caitlin Mills and Lara Mills.

The group introduced themselves to the Resident’s and interacted with them throughout. It was a beautiful day and the Resident’s all enjoyed visiting the garden and seeing all the great work that the group had carried out.

Caitlin commented:

“I really enjoyed being able to make a difference in our local community and we hope to inspire other young people.”

Resident Betty Braithwaite commented:

“What a lovely transformation by the young group.”
