Whether we woke up with Paddington Bear, Teddy Ruxpin or some other cuddly toy, most of us can recall our childhood favourites. We’ve taken them to school with us, left them behind in the playground, on the bus, and had tantrums when we’ve forgotten to bring them home from our grandparents’ house.
Teddy bears are a big part of our lives, so River Court care home had their Residents share some stories about their teddy bears as part of National Teddy Bear Day which took place from 9th September to 15th September at the care home.
“The stories were interesting and were a pleasure to listen to,” recalled a Colleague. Colleagues also gave some teddies to those Residents who didn't have one and they loved them.
They also got Residents involved in other activities revolving around teddy bears, such as colouring pages, quizzes and word searches. These activities were done over several days and Residents did, “ever so well, it was great to see them relive their special childhood memories,” explained a wellbeing Colleague.
“It was nice to see our Residents involved in all aspects of the activities. They really enjoyed themselves”
"These activities reminded us of our beautiful childhood memories. It was a pleasure to be involved," remarked, Resident Jean, who resides in Hampermill House.
Care Home Manager, Bijoy Philip, commented, "We liked the way the wellbeing team got most Residents involved in the activities over the days. Great job!"
