National Care Home Open Day Celebrations at Chelmsford Care HomeAs part of the seventh annual Care Home Open Day, HC-One’s Admirals Reach Care Home opened its doors to the community to take part in creative celebrations.

Care Home Open Day is a national event that gives local people the opportunity to learn more about the care services at the heart of their community. It focusses on bringing those who live locally into care homes to break down misconceptions, showcase what life is really like in a care home, and to highlight the skills and dedication of local people working as carers. The aspiration of everyone having a better understanding of how kind care is delivered.

The open day began with Residents taking part in a seated dance activity with teacher Louise, which was then followed with a deliciously home-made English afternoon tea which consisted of various sweet treats and delicacies created by the home’s catering team.

Residents especially enjoyed meeting local MP, Vicky Ford who attended the home to chat to everyone and enjoy the afternoon tea.

The Art Competition was judged by Vicky Ford, who decided that the winner was Helena Lewingdon for her lovely crochet work. Second prize was given to Joan Butter for her wonderfully coloured, framed picture of pansies, whilst third prize went to John Raymond for his wonderful painting. Helena’s piece will now be entered into HC-One’s national competition which will see a champion crowned from across the more than 350 home-level winners.

Lal Mangalam, Home Manager, commented: “It’s been a wonderful day had by all, and it’s been lovely to see the Residents happy and interacting with visitors.”
