MS joins ‘dancing together through the decades’ event at Peniel Green Care HomePeniel Green care home, run by HC-One, located in Llansamlet, Swansea, was visited on Monday 24th June by Swansea East’s MS Mike Hedges, as the home welcomed visitors and guests from the local community to participate in this year’s Care Home Open Week celebrations from 24th - 30th June 2024, with HC-One’s main celebration events taking place during Care Home Open Weekend (28th – 30th June).

Peniel Green care home, was delighted to open its doors to celebrate Care Home Open Week with residents, colleagues, friends, family, and the wider community.

Care Home Open Week is a national event hosted by Championing Social Care, designed to connect care homes with their local communities. The week provided care homes with the opportunity to showcase their range of services, provide tours of their facilities, and highlight the activities that are offered to residents.

Residents from Peniel Green love to get out in the local community themselves, most recently Wellbeing Coordinators Sara and Lisa organised a trip out to Swansea Marina followed by breakfast at the Pumphouse. So, everyone is delighted that during Care Home Open Week, they can invite people to visit Peniel Green.

Residents and colleagues of the HC-One owned home enjoyed meeting MS Mike Hedges for Swansea East and chatting to him about what life is like at Peniel Green – which is an integral part of the local Swansea community.

Peniel Green’s chosen theme for this year’s Care Home Open Week was ‘dancing together through the decades’. Throughout the week, residents, colleagues, families, and friends have been enjoying a variety of fun-filled activities.

As part of his visit, MS Mike Hedges met with Home Manager Bex Rees for the first time, as she was not in the position when he visited last year. He also talked about a shared interest of cricket with Chevron, who is an International Nurse, new to the position and having received his PIN on Friday 21st June, as well as chatting to new Deputy Manager, Charmaine.

Bex Rees, Home Manager at Peniel Green Care Home, said:
“We were delighted to welcome MS Mike Hedges to our home and open the doors of Peniel Green again to welcome in our local community and bring everyone together to celebrate Care Home Open Week 2024. Everyone had an amazing time.
“We are proud to support the Swansea community, and our Open Week celebrations provided a great opportunity to reconnect with our local community, to support community engagement, and to remind our local community that our kind care teams are here if they ever need support for themselves or a loved one.”

Swansea East’s MS Mike Hedges, commented:
“It was great to attend Peniel Green and spend time with residents as they celebrated Care Home Open Week. It was a pleasure to meet and hear from the residents firsthand about how they enjoy living at Peniel Green and how their wellness is looked after.”
