MP James Grundy visits Westleigh Lodge Care HomeWestleigh Lodge, in Leigh, Lancashire, was visited on Thursday 8th December by James Grundy, MP for Leigh, to chat to Residents and Colleagues at the care home.

The 48-bed friendly, nursing dementia care home, which is owned by HC-One, was delighted to welcome MP James Grundy and his Secretary Kim, to show round the home and chat to Residents, Relatives and Colleagues.

Residents and Colleagues of the HC-One owned home enjoyed meeting MP James Grundy for Leigh and chatting to him about what life is like at Westleigh Lodge – which is an integral part of the local Leigh community.

James was shown round the home by Christina Dale, Home Manager, and Adele Prescott, Deputy Home Manager, as he interacted with Colleagues and Residents throughout. There were discussions surrounding a variety of topics, including the use of facemasks in care homes and keeping everyone safe.

MP James Grundy also encountered plenty of laughter with the Residents, who were all pleased to chat to him. One Resident mistakenly thought James was the iconic singer Tom Jones and all had a good laugh. James remarked, “Now that’s a story to tell!”

Rose Naughton, Resident at Westleigh Lodge, said:
“I like him and think I will introduce him to my friend (fellow Resident Marie Noon).”

Adele Prescott, Deputy Home Manager at Westleigh Lodge Care Home, commented:
“Colleagues were pleased to have James Grundy visit and hear his views. There were some very interesting conversations between Colleagues and Residents and James praised the effort that staff go through regarding keeping everyone safe in care homes, particularly wearing facemasks. As a team, we would all like to thank James.”
