Mother's Day Memories at Fairway View Care Home in NottinghamAs Mother’s Day approaches, residents at Fairway View Care Home in Nottingham are taking a moment to reflect on the special memories they have of their mothers. With heartfelt stories shared among residents, the care home has been filled with warmth as many reminisce about the women who shaped their lives.
Among those sharing memories is Joy Hoar, 89, a retired primary school teacher who has fond recollections of her mother.

Joy said:
“I was the youngest of four, and being the baby of the family, I think my mum had a soft spot for me,” Joy shared with a smile. “She always encouraged me to go for it and work hard to fulfil my dream of becoming a teacher.”

Joy fondly remembers how her mother instilled in her the importance of self-belief and perseverance.

“My mum always told me not to listen to other people's opinions because they can hold you back. She would say, 'Never doubt yourself, if you work hard, you can do anything.' And she had this saying, 'Get on with it, don’t whittle on!’”

Joy’s story is just one of many at Fairway View, where residents are celebrating their mothers' love, wisdom, and encouragement. The stories shared this week have sparked a wave of fond memories, making this Mother’s Day at the care home an extra special occasion.

As the countdown to Mother’s Day continues, Fairway View reminds us all of the invaluable lessons mothers impart, and the lasting impact they have on our lives.
