Morpeth care home welcomes Mayor to view new Collingwood SuiteHC-One’s Foxton Court care home in Morpeth recently welcomed the current Mayor of Morpeth, Councillor David Bawn and ex-mayor Alison Byard, Councillor for Stobhill to the home to view the newly refurbished Collingwood Suite.

Foxton Court originally planned a grand opening of the new 31 bed residential Collingwood Suite for March, but due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the celebrations had to be cancelled.

They were, however, able to extend invites to the guest list following the completion of the refurbishment and in the interim of any new Residents moving in.

Alison, David and Colleagues from the home enjoyed a tour of the new facilities on Monday and although they weren't able to enjoy the bubbly reception they would have hoped for, they were able to enjoy a nice cup of coffee in the beautiful Bistro.

Both David and Alison voiced how pleased they were at the homes drive to be very active members of the community and as such, the home will be continuing with viewings to share the facility with all of their community links.

Mayor of Morpeth, David Bawn said: "I really appreciated the opportunity to visit the new facilities and was very impressed by the quality of the fit out and the high-end specification of the new areas.

“I was also impressed by the caring of the staff and their wish that Foxton Court remains firmly embedded in the local Morpeth community. This facility will be an asset to the town."

Alison Byard expressed her sadness in seeing the NHS Whalton Unit leave Morpeth, but was pleased with how much the staff at Foxton Court are keen to be a key asset in the Morpeth local community.

Stobhill Councillor, Alison Byard said:  "Although I was sad to see the NHS Whalton Unit leave Morpeth, I am very impressed by the standard of care provided at Foxton Court, which will now be extended into the new Collingwood Suite.

“I am particularly pleased that the staff are keen to promote interaction between the Residents and the community and am sure the new facilities will be an asset to the town".

Colleagues at Foxton Court felt privileged to have been able to have the opportunity to show Alison and David around the new Collingwood Suite and look forward to inviting them back for the official reopening.

Foxton Court Home Manager Joanne Bulman said: “It was a pleasure to meet the newly appointed Mayor on his visit to the Collingwood suite, as well as Alison as previous Mayor, their positive comments were greatly received.

“The Residents and staff are looking forward to meeting the Mayor when he revisits to officially open the new suite".
