Heather, a Resident at HC One’s Oak Tree Mews care home, has been getting stuck into a whole host of books throughout lockdown.
Resident Heather Roddan, has loved reading since she was a little girl. She likes nothing better than sitting in her room with a good book, watching people go past the Moreton-In-Marsh home, and can easily get through 3 or 4 books in a week.
Heather commented “I do love a good murder mystery book, but I’ll read anything – it keep the grey cells going!”
During the lockdown she has been unable to go out and buy books to read, so the team at the home have been acting as librarians and bringing in books for her from their own supply or from local shops.
Heather has an iPad that she uses to FaceTime her children. Colleagues at the home had asked if she would like books to be loaded onto it, but she says she ‘doesn’t get on with it’ and prefers to hold the book.
Once Heather has finished the books, they are added to the home’s library for the other Residents to enjoy.
The home manager said “Heather enjoys being teased that she is Oak Tree Mew’s Resident Bookworm. I am really proud of how the team have come together to maintain her supply of books.”
