Millbrook Residents travel back in time during Portland Basin visitResidents at Millbrook care home in Stalybridge enjoyed an adventure back through time as they visited their local museum at Portland Basin.

During the trip, Residents were able to see how Tameside had changes through different time periods.

Everyone had a great laugh as they tried on old-fashioned clothing, sat in an old pub, pottered around shops of a bygone era and even tried putting their heads in the stocks!

The day was rounded off with a well-deserved serving of tea and cake.

Edith, a Resident at Millbrook, said: “I really hope we can come again when it’s sunny and have a good look at the canal.”

Andrew Poll-Drane, Home Manager, said: “Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Portland Basin, it is a fantastic place to learn about the history of Tameside. It was fantastic to see how much the Residents were laughing as some of the staff tried out the stocks!”
