Memory cafe at Quarry Hall
Members of the community living with memory challenges are invited along to the next information session at HC-One’s Quarry Hall care home’s Memory Café on Wednesday, the 13th June at 2:30-4:00pm.

The event takes place each month since its launch last September and has featured talks from Cardiff and Vale UHB Mental Health Rehabilitation Nurses, Llandough Hospital Mental Health Rehabilitation Team, Wendy Hopkins Solicitors, and Carers Wales.

Memory Cafés are run across the UK and provide a safe haven for people living with memory challenges and their families to come together, exchange stories and offer support and advice to one another. Quarry Hall’s Memory Café is held the second Wednesday of every month.

Sandra Vernal, HC-One Quarry Hall Care Home Manager, commented:

“Many people who have found themselves to have become a carer can feel isolated and alone when their loved one is diagnosed with memory difficulties. We want to guide them through this difficult process and provide them with a support network that they can turn to when they need help and advice.

“The Memory Café has already been a huge success. We are committed to continuing the events and providing a place of refuge where people can go to de-stress and meet like-minded people.”

Located in St Mellons, Quarry Hall offers residential memory and nursing memory care to elderly ladies and gentlemen. Residents are encouraged to take an active role in community life and participate in day trips and outings to areas of local interest.
