Melbury Court knitting group supports local community with kind donationThe popular Knit and Natter group at Melbury Court care home in County Durham has helped to support its local community with a generous donation of baby hats.

Residents used their knitting skills to produce 346 homemade hats for the neonatal unit at Durham University Hospital.

Two Residents, Eva Mewes and Eileen Mathews, joined the Melbury Court staff to take the hats over to the hospital. They met Hannah, a team member at the unit, who was extremely grateful for the donation and helped guide them with the most needed sizes for future donations.

One Resident said: “The Knit and Natter group is one of my favourite hobbies at Melbury Court. I’m really happy that we could all use our skills for such a lovely cause.”

Nicola Coulson, Home Manager at Melbury Court, said: “At HC-One, we are determined to engage and help out the local community as much as we can. Our Residents really enjoyed making the baby hats, and are really looking forward to donating to the unit again in the future.”
