Meet the Scarecrows of Catherine HouseResidents at Catherine House care home, in Frome, celebrated Harvest Festival recently with a day full of singing, fancy dress, poetry, crafts and a stunning cake donated by Gillys Cakery in Radstock.

Somerset is renowned for being a farming county and the home count themselves blessed to be part of that community and to celebrate the labours of their farmers, especially in these uncertain times.

The main table display was set up with ‘Mr & Mrs Scarecrow’ (pictured) sitting on a bench; symbolising that they are finally able to rest now the harvest has been brought in.  Next to them were signposts with the words ‘Chosen by our Residents’, saying they are 'blessed' to have the food, 'grateful' for the farmers that work so hard, and 'thankful' that they can sit together and celebrate.

Some of the Colleagues dressed up as farm workers and one of the Residents decided to be a scarecrow for the day, which everyone loved!

The Residents really loved the whole day - it brought back so many memories for everyone.

Home Manager, Nellie May, commented, “Everyone had a great time. It was lovely to see the whole home celebrating and having fun together.”
