Mayor of Scunthorpe joins Bridgewater Park to celebrate Care Home Open Day HC-One’s Bridgewater Park care home in Scunthorpe was delighted to welcome members of the local community as it celebrated Care Home Open Day 2019.

Care Home Open Day is a national event that gives local people the opportunity to learn more about the care services at the heart of their community. It focusses on bringing those who live locally into care homes to break down misconceptions, showcase what life is really like in a care home, and to highlight the skills and dedication of local people working as carers. The aspiration of everyone having a better understand how kind care is delivered.

This year’s theme was ‘Celebrating Art in Care,’ with HC-One launching a national Art Competition to encourage, Residents, their loved ones, colleagues and neighbours to unleash their creativity and design their own masterpiece. Participants could create anything from paintings, drawings, knitting, poetry, calligraphy and pottery – the choices were endless and allowed all talents to be showed-off.

Bridgewater Park opened its doors to members of the local community to participate in the art competition with Residents and their loved ones.

Residents were delighted to meet the Mayor of Scunthorpe, Jonathan Evison, at the event as he joined in to help celebrate art in care.

Julie Moult, Home Manager at Bridgewater Park, said: “Everyone loved celebrating Care Home Open Day at Bridgewater Park. The art competition went down a storm, with Residents and their loved ones showing off their inner artists as they spent time in the summer sunshine.”
