Mayor attends Hebburn care home eventHC-One’s Hebburn Court care home in Hebburn hosted a Meet the Manager event on Thursday 14th June.

Councillor Kenneth Stephenson, Mayor of South Tyneside and Mayoress Cathy Stephenson attended the event alongside visitors from the local community and relatives.

Six little chicks decided to make an appearance on the day, they hatched during the event which was an amazing experience for visitors and the Residents to see.

There are still six chicks waiting to hatch as part of the HenPower scheme which the home enrolled in during May. Residents have named the six chicks Hetty, Steven, Helen, Sue, Bobby and John after a Resident’s husband who recently passed away.

After the surprise guests made their appearance the Mayor and Mayoress were given a tour of the home and met with Residents and colleagues to see first-hand the kind care being delivered.

Councillor Kenneth Stephenson, Mayor of South Tyneside said:

“It was great to visit Hebburn Court, the interaction between the staff and Residents is superb, it was very clear that there are respect and trust between them.

“Watching the eggs hatch was a surprising and unique experience, I am grateful to have been there as it happened.”

Hebburn Court Home Manager, John Lafferty said:

“I would like to thank everyone who attended the event, especially the Mayor and Mayoress. It was a great day, especially for the Residents who loved watching the chicks hatch and chatting with the visitors.”
