Averill House care home in Newton Heath, Manchester is delighted to have been selected to take part in the region’s Music in Mind project.
Established in 2012, Music in Mind uses improvisation as a tool to encourage those living with dementia to express themselves and communicate with others. Residents are given the opportunity to explore music alongside Manchester Camerata musicians and qualified music therapists.
The 12 week project aims to enhance Residents’ involvement in music, encouraging them to participate in playing basic instruments alongside contemporary and traditional music.
The first session was a great success, with Residents commenting on how much they enjoyed the music!
