Manchester care home resident celebrates diamond wedding anniversary with husbandA resident at HC-One's Rose Court, in Radcliffe, Manchester, has celebrated her diamond wedding anniversary with her husband.

Joyce McKendrick, who lives at HC-One’s Rose Court care home, celebrated the milestone 60th wedding anniversary with her husband, John, with a family party.

The couple’s two sons, Gary and Craig, were in attendance as well as their extended families. Joyce and John met on a blind date after being setup by friends.

Over their 60-years of marriage, the couple have enjoyed several holidays together across the world. One memorable trip included their first Eurostar train through the Channel Tunnel to Paris, as John is a railway enthusiast.

Joyce loves football and is a keen supporter of Manchester City. The current Premier League champions have been a massive part of Joyce and her children’s lives over the years.

On their 60th wedding anniversary, the McKendrick family enjoyed cakes and food to enjoy at the party, which was held in Rose Court’s garden room.

Joyce McKendrick, resident at HC-One’s Rose Court care home, said:

“The highlight of the day was having the family around us together. It is great to celebrate our marriage and our children, who we are very proud of.”

Allison Porter, Wellbeing Coordinator at HC-One’s Rose Court care home, commented:

“It’s so lovely in this day and age for a couple to have been together for so long. They’ve had a brilliant life, and they are who we all aspire to be.”
