Malvern care home welcomes local community for Care Home Open Day 2019Malvern care home welcomes local community for Care Home Open Day 2019

HC-One’s Court House care home in Barnards Green, Malvern was delighted to celebrate the seventh annual Care Home Open Day with members of the local community.

The nation-wide event gives local people the opportunity to learn more about the care services at the heart of their community. It focusses on bringing those who live locally into care homes to break down misconceptions, showcase what life is really like in a care home, and to highlight the skills and dedication of local people working as carers.

This year’s theme was ‘Celebrating Art in Care’, with HC-One launching a national art competition for Residents and visitors to the home. Participants could create anything from paintings, drawings, knitting, poetry, calligraphy, pottery and more.

Pupils from the local primary school attended the event, with the children channelling their inner artists as they entered the art competition.

Residents were delighted to help judge the art competition, with each winner being presented with a card and a prize to congratulate them for their achievement.

Jane Pugh, Home Manager at Court House, said: “It was amazing to see so many familiar faces from the local community at our Care Home Open Day. The art competition was a great success and both Residents and guests thoroughly enjoyed entering and judging the masterpieces that were submitted.”
