Making wishes come true for Victoria Manor care home ResidentsResidents at HC-One’s Victoria Manor care home in Whitley, Coventry, have been enjoying seeing their wishes come true by Colleagues at the 32-bed care home.

One of the Residents, Norman, expressed a wish to see his sister again after not seeing her for five years, despite taking to her every day on the telephone. Meanwhile two other Residents, Mary and Shirley, said they wanted to eat fish and chips by the sea, smell the sea air and listen to the waves.

Colleagues at Victoria Manor set out to make this happen by planning a big trip to Brighton, in East Sussex. After travelling down from the east midlands by minibus (with a singalong to Abba!), there was a very special moment when brother Norman and his sister Brenda reunited together again.

Mary and Shirley also delighted in eating fresh fish and chips on the seafront, watching the waves crash against the shore.

Everyone involved reported it was a great day out, and Colleagues had to hold back the tears watching the Residents so happy, having seen their wishes come true. Brenda gave warm thanks to the Victoria Manor team for facilitating the trip, while Norman, Mary and Shirley said they were grateful for an experience they would always treasure.

Home Manager Tina Booton said: “What a wonderful day! At HC-One we are committed to helping Residents keep their connections with friends and family and continue doing the things they enjoy, so I am pleased we have been able to help Norman, Mary and Shirley do that.”
